Importance of regular charity in Islam

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said,

“…the most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant even if it were little.”

Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:

Charity is due upon every joint of the people for every day upon which the sun rises. Being just between two people is charity. Helping a man with his animal and lifting his luggage upon it is charity. A kind word is charity. Every step that you take towards the mosque is charity, and removing harmful things from the road is charity.

One of the easiest good deed is to give charity regularly. Consistency can enhance even small actions and scholars often assert that a consistent small action is superior to an inconsistent large action.

Here are some other virtues of regular deeds:

  • Consistency gets easier overtime
“As for those who struggle in Our cause, We will surely guide them along Our Way. And Allah is certainly with the good-doers.” (Quran 29:69)

  • It builds sincerity towards the love of Allah
  • Consistency thrives during periods of comfort
“Recognise and acknowledge Allah in times of ease and prosperity, and He will remember you in times of adversity.” (Hadith an-Nawawi)
